We are absolutely bursting with pride to share that our very own Garden Lead teacher, Ms. Swisher, has been named Marin County’s Teacher of the Year by Superintendent of Schools John Carroll!

Ms Swisher's dedication to both academic excellence and real-world learning opportunities is nothing short of inspiring. From nurturing young minds to cultivating our thriving Hawks' garden, Ms. Swisher leads with vision, heart, and an unwavering commitment to her students and community.

If you know Ms. Swisher, you know this honor couldn’t be more well-deserved. In her classroom, she creates a calm and predictable environment where students feel secure, respected, and inspired to do their best work.

“I think kids need to know where they stand,” she explains. “The boundaries are very clear, the expectations are very clear, the day is predictable.” Within that structure, creativity flourishes, and every student has room to grow.

The Teacher of the Year recognition comes on top of other previous achievements beyond the classroom: the Marin County Integrated Pest Management Award 2021, the 2022 Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Educators, selection as Grand Marshal of the 2023 Corte Madera 4th of July Parade, and most recently, the 2024 Golden Bell Award. These recognitions reflect not only Ms. Swisher's teaching excellence but also her commitment to building bridges between environmental action, academic learning, and community engagement.
