Last weekend, the garden was buzzing with activity and filled with the energy of 50 incredible participants. Thank you to all the parents, kids, and grandparents who came together to make our school garden shine.
With gratitude in our hearts and dirt under our nails, we’re thrilled to share what we accomplished. The to-do list was no match for this dream team!
What We Achieved Together
Planted lupine seeds, garlic bulbs and edamame beans
Planted a variety of veggie starts including spinach, beets, kale, lettuce and green onions
Made and decorated seed packets of sunflower and lupine seeds
Repotted hummingbird sage and rosemary for giveaways
Collected campus trash to beautify the space
Cleaned and repositioned bluebird boxes for better predator defense
Organized and decluttered the shed, and fixing a tiny door hole for an unwelcome family of mice!
Rediscovered the wonders of nature: we met 3 ultra-cute mice and found an empty Mud Dauber wasp nest
Pruned and clipped, including giving some love to our fig tree
Weeded and topped up all galvanized planters with organic potting soil
Spread straw mulch to protect our newly planted veggies
Raked the leaves off the path and back into the planting areas
Heartfelt Thanks To everyone who contributed time, energy, and resources: you are what makes this garden flourish, not just with plants, but with community and care.
Next Steps and Exciting Plans We’re keeping the momentum going with plans to install a stronger shade structure, wildlife camera, and a wooden bee hotel.
Here’s to growing together, one seed at a time. 🌸💚
With gratitude,
Hawks’ Garden Club Team
