Last week in the school garden, Ms. Swisher rolled up her sleeves and got our potato patch started! Using sprouted seed potatoes and a deep layer of compost, she tucked them into the soil where the real magic begins — underground.
Students will help care for the plants as they grow tall and leafy, but the real excitement will come when it's time to dig. Potatoes grow out of sight, so harvest day always feels like a treasure hunt!
It’s a fun (and delicious) way to learn about plant life cycles, soil health, and where our food comes from.
We can’t wait to see what’s growing beneath the surface in the weeks ahead!
